John M. Scroggins

During his thirty-five-year career with the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), John M. Scroggins created and later directed the regional archives program, managed microfilming operations and audio-visual and cartographic records, and worked on the requirements for several automated systems. After retiring from NARA, he worked briefly for Ancestry.com as director of electronic records. He received the Federation of Genealogical Societies Award of Merit for his efforts to bring the federal government’s historical and genealogical records to the people and to build and strengthen archival outreach programs. John holds a BA in history from Jamestown College and an MA in public administration from The American University and is a member of the Academy of Certified Archivists and several genealogical societies.
