In 1928, Louis E. Ward published this account of events surrounding the New Zealand Company’s first settlement in that country between the years 1839 and 1850. This historical publication includes biographical records and sketches of early settlers, as well as a general history of the area. You’ll also find records, maps, illustrations, and origins of place and street names.

Ward includes historical details from correspondence and first-person accounts of the journey to New Zealand and the settlement’s early days. He also notes the arrivals of various ships, with lists of passengers on each, along with names of men, ages of men and their wives, and the number of children accompanying them.
